Professional Therapy for Children, Adolescents, Parents, & Families
Cecil Davison II, MA, MBA, LAPC earned his bachelor’s degree in Human Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Child Development from the University of Alabama and master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University where his study primarily centered on sound therapeutic intervention with children/toddlers, preteens, adolescents, and families. In fact, Cecil has devoted his career to serving children and families through the use of play therapy, sand tray therapy, individual and family therapy, art therapy, and parent/primary caregiver-centered therapy (also known as filial therapy).
Play is the universal language of children and teens (and adults, too!). It is how we engage in the work of therapeutic intervention. Your child’s therapy session with Cecil uses play to place a particular focus on dealing with many challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief, crisis, trauma, and even difficulties with attachment where he helps clients to deal with their circumstances through various coping and reframing skills as well as making changes and improvements in their daily lives using therapeutic interventions with a strong focus on Play Therapy.
Additionally, Cecil carries a strong background in working with families affected by domestic violence. He specializes in working with children who have experienced grief and loss and has also done considerable work with LGBT youth.
