Providing a corporate appearance for a small business cost
I am completely self taught, began my career in 1995 as a manager at a telemarketing company. My computer aptitude allowed my company to expand and provide in-house tech support instead of outsourcing it to a company in New Jersey.
I learned everything i could from that position. From wiring voice and data networks and interfacing them with the telco switch integrating with dialogic telephony boards.
Began my programming with FoxPro for DOS 2.6a. Upgraded that system after the year 2000 using a web based platform and Microsoft Access while still using a FoxPro database used by the predictive dialer.
When i started there was no IT department, and when i Left i had 2 other people working under me.
I left in 2009 to assist a colleague who worked for the company to which my original employer outsourced. As his new company purchased a site near where i was located. I was asked to oversee the operation as the dedicated Tech Service.
They were using ColdFusion and FoxPro and it was my responsibility to move them to Asp.Net and Microsoft SQL Server using a TouchStar predictive dialer.
In addition to completing the migration, i also made the site i was located at PCI Compliant, with what I had learned about security from one of the clients at my previous job who became one of the originators of the PCI DSS standards.
The site i was located started as the only outbound site in the company, that had 50 sites across North America, After getting that site running smoothly i was made the Outbound Tech Coordinator of that site located in Bismarck ND and 2 other sites in Fairlawn Ohio and Hays Kansas.
Due to company downsizing my position was eliminated in 2016. I then contracted for my mentor who lives in New Jersey, i credit him with teaching me what he could and showing me how to learn what I needed to know. I built primarily specialty applications like reporting automation. Prime project was a script creator for the dialer he and a partner were building.
Work Terms
The places i've worked at have taught me one thing. The day can start well before 8am and continue well past 5pm. Because of that i am pretty flexible in the hours i am available, including weekends.
I prefer email communication as it provides a record of what was and was not communicated.
