Hello! I live in the rugged town of Seward, Alaska and co-own and operate a seasonal, remote yurt lodging business called Shearwater Cove. For four years previous to building Shearwater Cove, I worked for leading eco-tourism company Alaska Wildland Adventures, managing their Seward office and boat fleet/staff.
There is big opportunity in this biggest of states, and it requires exceptional scheduling management skills and the ability to focus on the small day to day details while keeping an eye on the big picture. I have those organizational skills and the aptitude to work efficiently in a fast paced environment where things change unexpectedly.
When working in a small town like Seward, interpersonal skills are absolutely essential. Businesses work together providing each other services and references for work. Building and maintaining these relationships is a part of what I do.
As a business owner myself I empathize with other business owners and the intimidating lists of things to do and people to see. I enjoy the challenge of breaking down daily to-do lists and visually laying them out over a week, then layering with monthly, and finally yearly goals and deadlines to keep a panoramic perspective that resists clogging from everyday little tasks.
This beautiful state of Alaska is the most inspiring place to live and work. I treasure that I can live in this small town, enjoying the outdoors and working remotely as a virtual assistant.
