Passionate Data Scientist

I am a computer science graduate from the University of the Philippines Visayas. I graduated last June 2020 and got my first job as a data scientist apprentice a few weeks before graduation. I participated in the 3-month Interdisciplinary mentoring programming analysis, computation, and theory (IMPACT) training which involved math, statistics, and machine learning lectures accompanied with coding exercises and assignments. At the end of the training, we worked on a capstone project and my project was on sleeping disorders. The entire training gave me useful tools that could help me on my data science journey, adding up to the ones that I had during college. I worked as a data scientist on the same company, later became United Health Group Research and Development. Working with UHG taught me a lot of things in data science. From data gathering, data cleaning, exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical writing. I have worked with various projects involving diabetes, stress, prostate cancer, and more. Signal processing, deriving variables, making analysis, using machine learning models, and many more data science related tasks made me fall in love with data science even more. I love how powerful data could become as long as you clean it, organize it, and use appropriate tools to extract information from it. I am passionate in this field and have been planning to pursue further studies while working on my craft at the same time. I think theory and practical application would make my data science career a promising one.
