The garage would vibrate and shake the entire house, and I would wait to hear the door open. My father would get home from work late, make dinner, and sit down with me for the first time that day. We would put on a movie, and both of us could finally relax. We both would have a long difficult day, his more difficult than mine, and we knew just by looking at each other how we felt. We would rarely exchange words, and both of us would be perfectly content. I never thought about all of the work that would go into a movie, only that I would enjoy it. I would focus on the actors, their problems, and how they affected their surroundings. I listened to the music and I felt as if I was in the actor's shoes. I felt inspired by the actors, but had a stronger interest in the making of a movie. I saw them as role models and I would be influenced by their actions. I would be able to relate to the characters in a movie easily. I didn't know what I was looking for, but that I needed to work towards something that was important to me.

As I matured, I began to realize what movies meant to me. Without thinking about it, a bond between my father and me was created by watching movies. For me, a film that can bring people together and change people emotionally makes a good film. The experiences I have encountered in my life, added on to the people who helped me become the person I am today, have made me want to affect people with film in a similar way that I have been impacted. The idea of being surrounded by people who have similar interests to me, and also the same passion for their career paths, is the passion that drives me to film.

Many people like to analyze movies with great detail, when all that matters is how a film makes you feel. I have total control when it comes to making movies. I control what the viewer is seeing, hearing, and feeling, all at once. With that, I can make a movie feel real.
