My mission is to provide quality design solutions for business identity, marketing and advertising for my clients so their business will grow and succeed.
When I first started out I was intent on becoming an animator, however, there were not a lot of design schools for traditional animation at the time. I attended my local Community College and entered their graphic design program. Upon graduating I learned of a school with a computer animation program in Raleigh, N.C. I thought wow, my ship has finally come in. I enrolled and thought Disney here I come. I expected to learn traditional animation but man was I wrong, it was all computers, bells and whistles. I loved it! I studied computer animation at the School of Communication Arts and earned a certificate as a professional computer animator which was great until I found out there was no market for it in my area. I returned home to regroup and landed a job in the newspaper business, which renewed my love for graphic design. I worked as a classified layout designer, did story pagination, page layout, ad design, and later became the Marquee editor as well as the creative director. This fortunate turn of events has provided me with many amazing opportunities. I have designed The Lake Magazine (http://www.rrdailyherald.com/lake_the_-magazine/) for Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald publication. I have illustrated a children’s book, The Monroe Fairytales (http://www.chegg.com/textbooks/monroe-fairy-tales-a-reporter-snightmare-1st-edition) and I have done the layout and design for a book published for a local pastor, God’s Divine Connection (http://www.amazon.com/gods-divine-connection-mary-powell). I have had a chance to work with people all over the world as a freelance graphic designer and consultant for businesses and it has been very rewarding. I have also taught graphic design seminars for small businesses in North Carolina, and have worked as a graphic design teacher at Halifax Community College, in the town where I still reside. In order to keep up with current trends and technology I returned to college at Bellevue University to gain my Bachelor Degree in graphic design
