Powerful innovator driving success through inclusion
I am Courageous Fire, CHW, CEO of Courageous Fire, LLC, and Founding Executive Director of Courageous Access. My work focuses on creating safer spaces for Black women, promoting healing from trauma, and addressing systemic issues. I offer services such as public speaking, consulting, coaching (individual and organizational), workshops, and writing. My goal is to improve health outcomes for Black women, advocate for violence prevention, and help organizations understand the impact of trauma, especially on Black women and girls.
I specialize in translating life experiences into educational tools that resonate with diverse groups. I simplify complex concepts and use people within their communities to teach one another. I empower individuals and organizations to confront trauma, particularly domestic violence, teen dating violence, sexual assault, and the hidden impacts of trauma like ACEs, misogynoir, and racism.
I provide public speaking that uses storytelling to drive change and inspire action, consulting to create trauma-informed, culturally competent environments, and coaching to empower leadership and personal growth. My work equips communities with the knowledge and tools to understand and respond to trauma.
My strengths include writing, public speaking, conflict resolution, and active listening using techniques like motivational interviewing. I help people identify insights and take actionable steps, making complex ideas accessible to all.
I have overcome domestic violence and founded two award-winning organizations—Courageous Fire, LLC, and Courageous Access. Through these, I've supported Black women survivors, advocated for their needs, and increased awareness. My book, This is for the Other Child, has been praised as groundbreaking, offering insights for survivors and professionals alike.
I have spent years researching and understanding trauma's impact and how it manifests in under-resourced communities, especially for Black women and youth. My work is designed to equip individuals, groups, and organizations with the tools to understand these impacts and take meaningful action. I am passionate about empowering people, particularly women, to reclaim their lives, center their needs, and find joy in their healing process. I have created and led programs that focus on healing after trauma, teaching the importance of self-care, and helping organizations build culturally competent and trauma-informed practices. My goal is to help communities build resilience, especially in the face of ongoing systemic violence.
What drives me is breaking barriers and seeing my work transform lives. I am passionate about collaboration and creating lasting, impactful change. I’m excited to continue supporting organizations and individuals in creating safer, more inclusive spaces and navigating trauma’s impact.
