Hi! I am a Graphic Designer currently working within Sports & Lifestyle marketing for one of Europe's leading Sports & Lifestyle retail groups, Frasers Group.
I started out leaving school wanting to be an illustrator, I joined college as an Arts & Design student but after a year I transferred onto the Graphic Design course where I honed my skills and passion. After 2 years of BTEC Graphic Design I went on to do a BA Hons in Graphic Design at Sheffield Hallam University. I freelanced on the side to gain experience and this made me fall in love with branding and logo design.
After University I found my first design job at an independent nutrition company based in Leeds, Predator Nutrition. I was hired as an entry level designer but to my surprise, I was the only designer at the company. This gave me exposure to a mass of new projects and techniques, techniques I still use today.
After a year at Predator Nutrition I realised that there was not enough progression in the company for me so I decided to look elsewhere. I did a few interviews and was finally offered a Junior Graphic Design role at Europe's leading sports and lifestyle retailer, Sports Direct. This was an amazing opportunity because I was surrounded by like-minded professionals and a great team of designers. My first year was a huge learning experience, I grew as a professional and really got to know the Adobe products on offer to me. I became a specialist in InDesign, Illustrator and After Effects. I was also taught to use an automatic system called EasyCatalog which is a plug-in for InDesign that allows the designer to create one design that can paginate out over 1 million pieces of artwork with different price points, images and text.
3 and a half years later and I still work at the company although we have rebranded as Frasers Group and aim for the higher end of the retail spectrum. I have also continued to work as a part-time freelancer.
Work Terms
My time is limited as I will only be working part-time after finishing my normal job. This can be discussed during initial project talks.
