'Well, I shall record the conversation, if you don't have any objection,' Andrew touched the button of the voice recording app on his mobile phone without waiting for David’s nod. 'So, you are the only witness of the bloodbath. Is there any other living person on earth who can talk about this?'
'The answer is yes and no', the old man answered sadly looking at the mobile phone lying on the table in front of him, 'It was horrible and painful. The agony of losing near and dear ones was unbearable. As far as I can remember, I was the only survivor of the massacre.'
'Can you start from the beginning, please.'
‘David slowly adjusted himself within the wheelchair and dived deep into his memory. I was around nine then; there was a small village beside the Wisconsin river few miles north of presently known Merrill city, Wisconsin USA. Our family was among the few families who first came to this place. Present state highway 107 used to be a muddy path along the Wisconsin river in those days.
‘Our neighbour Mrs. Hudson, a widow in her forties, lived in Hudson Villa along with her sixteen years old daughter. She was a nice lady who used to be very good to us. Our houses had two windows facing each other at the same elevation on the first floor. When both are open, we could see each other's living room. Though Mrs. Hudson used to keep the window shut most of the time.
'It was in one summer noon, I was playing in the living room, when my sight casually fell on that window of Hudson Villa. The window was wide open, and I could see their living room. For first few moments I did not understand what I was eyeing. Soon the reality revealed itself. I was petrified in horror.
'What did you see, David?'
