Game Engineer. Using the design and development process to make games better.
I'm an engineer by trade. I design and write software, with my main interest always being how people and computers interact. I'm less interested in optimizing algorithms than I am in gently coaxing someone to use the algorithm correctly. I love building software that makes computers easier to use and understand.
I'm also a life-long lover of games, in all their forms. Board games have come to more recently dominate my interest, which is why I've started designing my own, writing a blog about game design, and generally focusing my efforts on applying my engineering design training and experience to the field of making and improving games. I've been working hard on some of my own projects, but I'd love to lend my knowledge and experience to other designers who may have fantastic ideas, but less familiarity with developing and completing those ideas.
Work Terms
I am limited in the number of hours I can work, and the size of projects I can take on, due to ongoing commitments. However, the nature of the services I offer tends to work well with either short assignments, or projects that have a longer iteration time.
