If you don't enjoy writing it, readers won't enjoy reading it.
I've been telling stories, according to my mom, since I learned to talk. Even as a baby, I was a night owl. I would keep her up at night telling her stories.
Some of my earliest memories, I can remember sitting in the floor at my grandmother's feet, begging her to tell me stories. All stories, no matter the subject, captivated me. Local storytellers who would come to my elementary school to tell their tales was a very special treat for me. I remember listening to Wiley and the Hairyman being played on the record player, and I then went home to tell my version, sound effects and all, to any of my family members who would listen.
And then...I fell in love with books.
Though I would disagree with my mother's decision now that I am older, I was able to talk her into letting me borrow my grandmother's Harlequins at the age of twelve. She kept them stocked in the linen closet for a little bathroom reading and, I suppose, so that the preacher wouldn't see them when he came visiting.
By the time that I was 14, I'd begun to develop my very own characters, settings and plots. I still have the very first book that I ever wrote on a typewriter that my mom worked so hard to get me for my birthday. (In case y'all haven't figured it out yet...I'm old! ;D) I still remember my sore fingers. I wore blisters on my thumbs for a bit.
Life has brought many changes and has thrown me many curve balls, but it has only served to add to my writing. While I can still put out a steamy, toe-curling love scene, I've come to realize that the characters inside the book are what makes it become a home away from home.
Work Terms
I'm very flexible and easy to work with. I prefer at least 7 cents per word, but it also depends upon the job. I can work per client guidelines. I can communicate via phone, email, private messaging, etc. In order to ensure that I am presenting the best possible material, I typically proofread several times and make any necessary edits or changes as I see fit. I am always open to constructive criticism and suggestions.
