Data Cleanser and Analyst

I have four years of experience working on a variety of research projects doing data entry, data extraction, extensive data cleaning, and basic statistical analyses (mostly descriptive statistics). I use primarily the Stata statistical software package for data cleaning and analysis. I am proficient with Excel VBA, which I have used to create professional data visualizations and automated reports.

In Stata I wrote an algorithm which utilizes regular expressions to code free text medical diagnoses into a predefined classification system. This algorithm was employed successfully on a database of about 100,000 observations. As an independent consultant at the World Health Organization I automated the analysis of survey data and the generation of PowerPoint reports for country meetings using Excel VBA.

As a master level chess player and chess teacher of many years, I stumbled upon the field of Data Science about four years ago when I offered to help my wife with several research projects she was working on. It was love at first click. I have worked on about two dozen projects, and have learned a variety of useful skills. I love tackling interesting problems, and especially the automation of tedious and time consuming tasks.

Work Terms

I am available from 8:00am-5:00pm EST (Eastern Standard Time). My normal rate is $20/hr, but this is negotiable. I am happy to take on fixed price projects.
