Don't stop until I get it done...
For the past eleven (11) years I have held the position of Management Assistant to the Manager Maintenance Services within the Refinery at Petrotrin. The department oversaw the maintenance of the Refinery, Port, Tank Farms, residential utilities and transportation at Pointe-a-Pierre. Our structure comprised of five hundred and three (503) employees some of whom worked in our Planning and Scheduling Section, Transportation Services Section, Workshops (Electrical and Instrumentation, Mechanical - Machine and Welding, Plant Fitting and Building Trades) and the remainder with the Operations personnel in the six (6) Asset Teams (Heavy Oil, Conversion, Hydro-processing, Utilities, Oil Stocks and Port and Marine) to ensure the continued running of plants, units, sub-stations and equipment.
A Senior Maintenance Superintendent would have been appointed to lead each team along with a Clerk (most of who were temporary and required me to apply and get approval for their services on a monthly basis via the company wide Human Resources software) who would aid in the administrative and timekeeping duties. The documents generated by these sections were of a voluminous amount (daily) most of which needed the Manager’s attention and approval, requiring that administration be rapid and efficient so as not to impede the commencement, continuation or completion of jobs in the areas and for correspondence or forms pertaining to employee’s career movement and time management would be dispatched in a timely manner. Whilst proficiently managing the communication aspect of the office
