Giving form to meaning
2002 BFA from Corcoran School of Art + Design and Adjunct Professor. I have exhibiting nationally and internationally and am an award winning artist. My interests range broadly in terms of stylistic conventions, materials and subjects. I paint, draw, sculpt, work in glass and work in botanical illustration. My work can be very mimetic (realistic) or highly abstract. My sculptural work tends toward the feminine form abstracted, although I have work that is realistic and figurative. My sculptures also tend to incorporate semiotic elements that convey meaning. I believe art should convey meaning, but that the meaning should not typically be didactic or so chaotic and confused that it is meaningless to the viewer. My minimalist aesthetic in my sculptures are very successful in combining a beauty and simplicity that still packs meaningful and approachable meaning or "content" that viewers enjoy.
