After earning a BS in Business Administration degree and paralegal certificate, I worked for over 17 years as a technical writer in the Contracts Department of a national company specializing in home health care. Completing responses to "Requests for Proposals/Invitations to Bid" required extensive research, attention to detail and coordination of responses from multiple levels within the organization, including staff, management and field personnel.

I completed several assignments dealing with health issues for an East Coast women's magazine. The Editor provided the general topic, and e-troductions to several physician advertisers; the rest was a matter of my developing appropriate questions, conducting interviews and turning information into an article suited to the readership.

Drawing from a love of growing things, I went a step further and in 2006 became a Master Gardener though my local state Extension office. After completing the course taught by professors from the State agricultural university, each year I exceed the minimum continuing education hours necessary to maintain active status. Part of the volunteer service I perform includes drafting responses to grant offers and turning the after-program data into a comprehensive report to the grantor.
