My name is Doug, and I'm a freelance web designer and programmer. I'm new to Guru.com, but I have a variety of experience in many areas of computing. I originally took a large interest in hardware, especially legacy hardware. I manage an eBay business in that niche. In the last few years, I have been branching out to new areas, and working on the certifications to match. In a previous full time job with a startup, I developed the website and contributed to the server infrastructure. Educationally, I am currently returning to UCLA, where I will complete my major in computer science.
Let's get down to the details of my skills. I originally learned to directly develop HTML and CSS, but I'm now very familiar with both Wordpress and Drupal. This give me a "best of both worlds" advantage. I've recently been working through courses with W3Schools, one of the oldest and most respected sources of web design reference. I'm proficient in Javascript, Java, XML, and many other languages that are less relevant here.
I'm a good problem solver, very patient, and I will work through your project until it is to your satisfaction - no matter what. I believe that I have an above average sense for graphic design, though I have no formal training. I am fairly experienced with Photoshop and Final Cut Pro, and related software, having enough competence to make intermediate edits.
