Bringing your imagination to life through bold and boundary-pushing animation and illustration.
I often take an experimental approach to my work: focusing on which medium(s) can best express my concept. As an animator and an artist, I allow for my work to be transformative and expressive. I enjoy the notion of making my audience uncomfortable whether that be through strobing lighting, harsh cuts, or graphic visuals. In my work, I like to use various types of mixed media materials such as found objects, magazine clippings, oil based clay, and thread to later distort in a digital format. Often distorting the image so much, the objects begin to lose their footing in reality. I create work (animated or not) with the intent not only to entertain but to also evoke strong emotions of hilarity, overstimulation, and or fear.
I do this to keep my work living between both the digital and physical realms. I often use found objects as sources; these can be physical or digital. They consist of what’s been discarded: whether it's everyday household waste; or old resources of knowledge that have lost their currency. What’s deemed useless or obsolete – what we’re trying to get rid of or move on from – is charged with unintended meaning about our values and desires. I am invested in the ways in which the work of “the hand” translates through these modes of production.
