Diverse professional with an administrative career who is currently a PhD Candidate
I am currently a PhD Candidate at the University of St Andrews in the UK. Prior to returning to education, I worked for more than ten years in various administration roles across several industries. This work was carried out in Ireland, China, Canada, Belgium and the UK.
Currently, I am conducting research on counter-terrorism strategies through the School of International Relations at the University of St Andrews. I am in the process of conducting high level interviews with expert practitioners in the field in the UK, and have transcribed all of my own interviews.
I am self-funded, and therefore always open to new working opportunities that provide some level of flexibility. I tutor undergraduate students in the School of International Relations which requires me to engage with students during semester on a weekly basis in a classroom small group format, provide essay writing guidance, design classes relating to the International Relations lectures, mark essay assignments and mark exams papers.
I have acted as Guest Editor for the Academic Journal of Terrorism Research, the issue having been published in February 2017. In this role I was involved in reviewing all submitted articles, assigning blind reviews, making decisions on which articles to accept, updating the back-end of the site, coordinating with IT, designing the cover and the issue layout, liaising with reviewers and submitters.
I also work as a freelance proof-reader and I am a regular reviewer of submitted articles for both the Journal of Terrorism Research and the Terrorism and Political Violence Journal.
I have extensive experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. I am very experienced in all areas of administration including policy writing, editing, transcriptions, diary management, project coordination and meeting and event organisation. I have also taken minutes of meetings. I am willing to work flexibly and look forward to connecting with you.
Work Terms
I can work up to 20 hours per week. All work needs to be adequately paid - I am a native English speaker working towards a PhD and therefore I cannot consider low payments. I am flexible on roles that fall within my experience as outlined above. Should any specific queries arise, i would be more than happy to answer them.
