I like working with clients to creating innovative technical solutions to business problems that go beyond what the client thought was possible.
I have been programming professionally for 12 years now and I still enjoy the process of creating a web application that will make a impact. What are some of the traits that separate me from other programmers:
1) I enjoy programming. I like the challenge of creating clean maintainable code, building APIs and libraries that can be reused and creating intuitive user interfaces. I find that most Java programmers are lacking in the later. I find this is actually the area that can have the biggest impact on a successful adoption. I take pride in creating clean UIs.
2) I like working with clients and discovering how their business process works. I like to see the reaction on client’s faces when I come up with software solutions that they never thought of. This really only comes when you look beyond the “software specifications” and understand the business needs.
3) I like learning new technology and techniques and trying to apply them to my everyday programming. I am constantly reevaluating what the best tools are - be it full stack JavaScript, CSS preprocessors, NoSQL databases or functional programming.
4) I understand that timelines matter. I enjoy creating clean code, but I know that it has to be balanced with a product that clients can actually touch. Getting a tangible product to the client often sparks ideas and innovation, drastically changing the direction of the product. This feedback is invaluable.
Work Terms
I'm only able to work partial hours during the week and on weekends.
