Online ESL and Spanish Tutor with 18 years of Spanish class Experience

Hi! My name is Elizabeth, and I have a passion for tutoring for many reasons. In particular, I love those "lightbulb moments" when a student does not understand a concept and then it clicks for them. I have had many experiences teaching students when they have not understood a concept and I have had to figure out a different way to teach them. For example, one student did not understand addition and subtraction, and so to make it more concrete for the student I grabbed all the pencils I could find and we used those to show the math problems in real life. I have also had experience tutoring languages. I helped lead a weekly ESL program for Spanish-speaking people, teaching grammar, vocabulary, and clarifying concepts in Spanish when necessary. We also discussed cultural concepts and worked on reading and writing skills.

Finally, I am a lifelong language learner myself. This means that I understand the challenges that can come with learning a foreign language, and want to help my students in a patient and encouraging but also motivating and challenging environment. I love talking to students, learning about their culture and telling them about my own. I actually think this is one of the best ways to learn as well! Because of this my lessons are mostly conversational, but I will sometimes use free resources as well to help us. We can also talk about any grammar concepts you may be struggling with!

I have tutored English as a Second Language for 1.5 years and gained a lot of knowledge and strategies through this experience. Also, I have always gotten either As or high Bs in my English classes. I am currently a Linguistics major in college right now.

One of my greatest joys is helping students achieve their language-learning goals, and i would love to talk to you more about how I can help you! I am really excited about the opportunity to teach you, and hope you will enjoy as much as I do!
