I am an artist as well as someone that lives with a chronic illness. I'm lucky that my chronic illness brought me to art. In high school I took AP art and found myself unhappy with my photographs taken on DSLR, and happier with the look of the polaroids I took of friends in my free time. I fell out of love with photography, looking back I was editing my digital photographs to look grainy and as if they had been taken on a film camera.
I was an All-American athlete and sports were my life. After being diagnosed with a chronic illness and finding myself out of school with far too much time on my hands, I rediscovered photography in a new way. I invested in (a few) film cameras and it was over. I was in love. I always just tell people "film hits different" - the photos speak for themselves. I love working with people and love taking their photograph just as much.
