Emon Johnson: Discovering the Untranslated
Hi there. I have a huge interest in creative writing and self-understanding. I studied psychology in my undergrad and used it to analyze my personal experiences, emotions, and behaviors which I then applied to my writing. I believe human experiences, which are set in motion by the flow of history, to be both incredibly unique and similar simultaneously. And it is due to this perplexing idiosyncratic kinship that we find understanding and a lack thereof. By exploring oneself, and understanding life has spun before one's own existence, which contributes in the definition of one's being, giving light to the fact that that individual is but a drop in the ever-changing ocean that is the life; as well as, realizing that one must emancipate themselves as an individual outside of the domain of pre-established flows and expectations, serenity and inner peace, in my opinion, can be obtained. In order to do this however, one must know, accept, and appreciate how history, personal responsibility, external forces, and at times luck, play a role in defining a person. These are dimensions which I have explored and always enjoyed discussing. To name a few ideas, here is a list of topics I have written about and researched: the influence of the N word and who has the "right" to say it, the ability of commonality of pain to unite individuals and cause allegiance to certain mindsets, how humans are not only becoming less human due to technology and efficiency but more robotic, how the lack of uniqueness between humans can be beneficial in self-discovery, the importance of understanding the different persuasive tactics and how one may avoid or control them, the importance of motivation in today's passion-driven workplace, and the effectiveness of activism of today vs. that of the past
