Accepting freelance assignments and specializing in mission critical situations when you only have one shot at getting it right.
As a youth, I honed my teeth having shot thousands of feet of Super 8 film, 50' at a time. I later graduated to a 16mm Bolex and later a 35mm Arriflex but I always followed video technology as well. In today's world where smart phones empower the owner to equal or greater capability, I'd like to think my 50 years experience has taught me the greater lessons of how to properly craft cinematography with the proper mix of lighting, camera movement and when computer generated imagery as needed. This is how today's stories are told and how tomorrow's generations will remember us by.
Work Terms
Most work assignments entail creating a good script. This is often a time to exchange ideas with the client and arrive at place that satisfies all the goals with creativity while mindful of a budget and a realistic timetable for completion. I typically receive a 50% deposit for my services and the remainder due upon completion. Location fees, talent, make-up, wardrobe, permits, insurance riders, etc., are examples of other items that are not included unless stipulated by contract.
