I am a freelance writer and researcher who has experience bringing my skills as an academic to bear on a variety of projects outside the academy.
For the past several years, I have worked as an academic historian at a variety of universities in the UK. I have published work in journals and edited collections and my first book in U.S. history is forthcoming in Spring 2018 with the University of North Carolina Press.
But I am keen to kickstart a new career and am looking to develop a portfolio as a freelance writer and researcher to bring my skills out of the academy and into the marketplace. What I bring to any new project is not only the bundle of skills I have honed as a writer and a researcher, but the desire to broaden my horizons in new fields and take on new challenges. I believe that the best writing and research comes out of an understanding of context: the circumstances that make up our lives and the world we live in. As a historian, I am in a unique position to offer that understanding to the projects I take on.
I work quickly, effectively and to deadline. I offer exceptional quality and can develop work from basic instructions or from a detailed outline. I can write for a variety of audiences and am interested in taking on a variety of new research projects that relate to either the UK, the U.S. or the EU.
