The arts wont keep the world from burning, but at least it will look good while it is.
Erik’s interest in the design world is twofold. First, he desires to work for an industry that will broaden his experiences—He believes strongly in a person’s drive to innovate. Second, he plans to give meaning in life by continuing to learn and grow creatively, not only as an individual but also as a part of groups.
The Houston Global Game Jam 2017 was where he felt at home sleeping on chairs in a back room to make a game for a weekend. With pillow and Snuggie on hand, he and a group of colleagues tacked the theme of “waves” into a game concept. Through metaphorical blood, plenty of sweat, and gallons of coffee, he dished out dozens of textured assets and an original music score. Afterwards, Erik could only think of a hot shower, a comfortable bed, an ice-cold Shiner Bock and Sichuan cuisine.
After winning “Best In Show” at graduation, Erik was sired onto the Virtual 360i team of virtual reality content creators where he honed his craft and passion for VR. Although the company at the time focused more on hospitality, business and residential virtual tours, Erik used this opportunity to test and tune virtual friendly user-experiences and interface on a wide demographic of people. Erik strives to approach others and tasks with high-energy. With his goal-oriented mind, he seeks organization to be able to never miss a deadline has proven to be irreplaceable.
As Virtual 360i grew to spread to graphic design, photography, and Google Business View, Erik stacked his inventory of skills with multi-disciplinary experiences. From drafting simple brochures to publishing a virtual tour of a 39,000 sq.ft. Texas retreat center, Erik’s tool-belt of knowledge became a hefty backpack of weapons eager to be used.
Erik is a holder of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Game Art and Design from the Art Institute of Houston. As a person that’s passionate about technology and the arts, Erik continues to follow his dreams both for fun and behind the desk to keep him sane.
