Professionally Trained Editor and Proofreader
I am a professionally trained developmental editor and copy editor and the owner of Erika's Editing (www.erikasediting.com). When you work with me, you are investing in your book. I will partner with you to ready your manuscript for either self or traditional publishing. My rate is ***always hourly.*** Serious inquiries only, please.
I specialize in editing long-form fiction and creative non-fiction. I work closely with my authors in order to form strong relationships, and I will always treat your voice and your manuscript with respect. I've edited manuscripts across an array of genres; my client list includes both emerging and established authors from the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
I hold a Certificate of Editorial Study (five semester-length intensives) from NYU, and over a decade of my professional experience was spent at the MLA, an elite scholarly publisher. My many years in the world of scholarly publishing taught me the best practices of editorial work, especially with regard to copy editing. My undergraduate degree is in English (Writing), which I earned in 1999.
My book, "Voices Beyond Bondage," was released in 2014 and received national media attention. As a touring author-editor, I was invited to give author talks at over two dozen institutions across the Northeast.
I have a special interest in fiction (including historical fiction and YA fiction), 19th-century American history, and creative nonfiction (especially memoirs). Manuscripts with social justice or progressive focuses are especially welcome. My clients are my partners; we will work together to bring forward your brilliance and your unique voice.
