Committed to creating art that pours into the people, places, & spaces that pour into us
I am Femi, a first generation child of an immigrant family from Sierra Leone. My vision of the world is through the medium of the mural arts.Through this art form I channel narratives that open up the possibility of healing and unity. As a child, I began to explore art as a way to cope with my environment. The disconnection that I experienced in reference to my heritage as a West African & African American caused me to struggle with my identity. I loved the cartoons of my childhood. They gave me a way to escape the conflicting worlds I existed in at home and outside my home. Through the world of my imagination, I was free and could be anything that I wanted to be. in that world there were no limitations, there was creativity, abundance, freedom, joy, beauty, and peace. This is how Femi, the artist was born. Currently, I am a visual artist that resides in Prince Georges County, Maryland who uses painting to story-tell. Through storytelling, I have pursued the mission of pouring into the people, places, and spaces that have poured into me. I have achieved success through public projects such as "Love is the cure" & "Adaire Elementary"
