By the time I graduated I swore I would never work in a hotel, which naturally guaranteed that I'd find myself employed by a large hotel chain for about one year

Another, unexpected thing happened when I was an undergrad though. That was the re-discovery off my passion for writing. My professors encouraged me to continue developing that skill, and while I wasn't at a school that offered minors or double-majors, I took every comp and writing class I could. I joined the school newspaper, and got a job at the school's writing center, where I was able to help other students develop their own writing abilities.
