Award-Winning Literary Translator (German to English), Scholar, Writer, Artist, and Editor
I am an essayist published in The Georgia Review, The Missouri Review, Numero Cinq, and elsewhere, winner of the Jeffrey E. Smith Editors' Prize for Non-Fiction, and nominated numerous times for Pushcart prizes. My book-length translation, Thought Flights: Robert Musil's Small Prose (Contra Mundum Press 2012), was funded in part by the Austrian Ministry of Arts and Culture and the NEA. I am beginning a novel and finishing the painting and illumination of a room-sized accordion book inscribed with an essay on the history of books, published in The Georgia Review and cited as a finalist in Best American Essays of 2015. I am the editor of a monthly print magazine, 05401PLUS, which explores a new environmental, aesthetic, socio-political vision for the Lake Champlain Bio-region and beyond. I have a doctorate in Germanic Literatures and Languages and have spent years teaching writing, research, literature, art theory, and philosophy.
Work Terms
I am open for business 24/7 and my rates are flexible, depending upon the job. For translation (German into English), my standard rate is 0.10 per word. For editing, I charge by the hour (and I work fast) at @$15/hour. Writing depends entirely on the job.
