English teacher turned editor
I have been teaching developmental writing and reading skill to college students for more than 20 years. Some have been native speakers, but most have been English learners from around the world. Aside from teaching, I have scooped ice cream, poured beer, stocked shelves, run a cash register, shoveled horse stalls, and cut hair. (You'll notice that most of those jobs involve good communication skills.)
My hobbies and interests include playing French horn, gardening with California native plants, crocheting, and keeping aquarium fish and pets.
My other areas of knowledge are education, linguistics, German, music, parenting, cosmetology, and science fiction.
Some unusual things about me are that I color my hair blue and that I appreciate old music, Italian scooters, pet rats, and Oxford commas.
