Habteweld Mazengia is a passionate and forward-thinking software engineering student with a drive to build innovative, meaningful, and efficient digital solutions. Currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering at Addis Ababa University, Habteweld is known among peers and instructors for his commitment to learning, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to both academic and real-world technical challenges. With a foundation built on solid programming principles, hands-on project experience, and an eagerness to contribute to the ever-evolving tech landscape, he is steadily carving a path toward becoming a skilled and impactful software engineer.

Habteweld’s journey in tech began not in the classroom but through self-driven exploration. From tinkering with basic HTML and CSS websites in internet cafés to building his first mobile app using Flutter during his second year of university, he has always been curious about how software can be used to improve lives. He has since gained experience in multiple programming languages and frameworks, including Python, JavaScript, React, Node.js, and Django, and continues to sharpen his skills in version control, system design, and cloud services like AWS and Firebase.

Throughout his academic journey, Habteweld has participated in various collaborative projects and hackathons, consistently demonstrating strong leadership and teamwork skills. One of his most notable projects was the development of an open-source school management system for local public schools in Addis Ababa. The system, which he built alongside a team of fellow students, streamlined administrative tasks like grading, attendance, and student profiles. Habteweld was responsible for designing the backend architecture and ensuring seamless data communication between components using Django REST Framework. The experience reinforced his passion for building scalable, user-centered software and his belief in using technology to address educational and social inequalities.

In addition to his coursework, Habteweld is an active member of the Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) and the IEEE student chapter at his university. Through these platforms, he has attended and organized coding bootcamps, tech talks, and peer-to-peer learning sessions. He also enjoys mentoring first-year students, offering guidance on how to navigate the world of software engineering, from choosing the right tools to managing time during complex projects.

What sets Habteweld apart is not just his technical ability but his vision. He sees software not just as a career path, but as a tool for empowerment, especially in developing countries. As someone who grew up witnessing the challenges faced by rural and underserved communities in Ethiopia, Habteweld is especially passionate about building solutions that enhance access to education, healthcare, and agricultural information. His dream is to launch a startup that combines mobile technolog
