Kalsi Scientific is the brainchild of Hardip Kalsi, a biochemist with a strong background in creating best-selling, environmentally friendly formulations for the personal care, home care, and pet care markets. Her expertise is focusing on creating a wide range of formulations based on a client’s intended audience, using an array of naturally derived ingredients, while paying close attention to the requirements set forth by the FDA (for personal care), and the EPA (for pet and home care). We resolve challenges at the molecular level, as well as the macro level.

We design formulations with a complete picture in mind, including the olfactory experience. We suggest natural or naturally derived scenting options that also serve to provide a memorable and delightful experience with each use.

Formulators are in a renaissance period of formulation chemistry and can choose ingredients that have a lower impact on our climate and cater to consumers who have sensitivities and skin conditions. We create formulations from scratch, re-create your favorite product in the market, or embark on entirely novel concepts for our customers, and always with clean and cutting-edge ingredients.

Work Terms

I am well versed in creating and stabilizing cosmetic systems, especially for personal and home care markets. Depending on your ingredient preferences, I can provide you with a robust formulation. I have two possible work terms: I can charge an hourly rate of $75/hour, OR, a singe fee of ranging from $300-$1000 per formulation (depending on the difficulty of the project and cost of raw goods). The latter arrangement includes three rounds of changes, and one 200 gram sample for review for each revision. I do request that the client pays for shipping product to them, and I recommend Fedex 2-day (about $15 anywhere within the US for a small express package).
For the second option, I charge a $200 deposit for materials and overhead. Most of my customers choose the latter option. I have a fast turnaround of two week for the first sample if you decide to work with me, as I have a fully equipped lab with almost any raw material you choose to go with. You will have ownership of the formulation at the end of the process, with complete ingredient lists and instructions, as well as sourcing information.
