About

"Good writing moves people emotionally and physically."

Passionate about the human story, Heather Williams is a creative writer keen to explore what makes people tick. She gravitates toward the drama and thriller genres with narratives featuring complex characters with their own unique story to tell. Heather writes in many mediums: screenplays, webisodes, stage plays, poetry, and short stories.

Most recently, she completed her first novel, a thriller, One Million Pieces, about a woman forced into a human chess game when her daughter is kidnapped by a psychopath playing his own unique version of the game. She is actively seeking representation and publication.

Heather worked cross-culturally in the cruise industry writing training programs, assessment tests, editing, and proofreading the story of a major cruise line for 20 years. A proud member of a military family, she is well-traveled and has lived in and visited all 50 states of the United States and several countries, such as Turkey, Italy, Spain, Costa Rica, Tunisia, and Great Britain.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. While a student there, her short story, Genie, won the W.E. B. DuBois Award for Fiction and was published in an anthology by the University of California Press. She also completed fieldwork in The Gambia, West Africa, where she studied female Jalis and their unique role in African society.

Heather is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing at Full Sail University with an expected graduation of October 1, 2021. She resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
