“Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of intelligent effort.”
John Ruskin (1819-1900)
I have worked in a number of jobs in 15 years; Retail stores, food services, banking, telecommunications. Most recently I worked for Safelite Auto Glass where I worked 8am to 5pm Monday through Saturday with alternating days off. I decided I was ready to let go of that routine and begin to enjoy my living. My work at Safelite consisted of answering calls from customers needing assistance getting prices for original equipment glass. I would then call and get prices and input the customer information and the prices into the system and quote the customer. I would get approvals from insurance companies and order the parts. The part would come in and I would check it to be sure it was in good condition. I would then contact the customer to let them know of its arrival and schedule the job. At any given time I had approximately 50 parts ordered and in different stages which has honed my multitasking skills.
Once I am given the go ahead on a project I give it my all until completion. I realized in the past few months that an hourly rated job was not for me. I want to be paid for the work I do not for the hours I work. I enjoy getting in a few extra hours at night at times but even then I just want to be paid for my quality of work.
