With experience rooted in merchandising, my director level accountabilities have grown to cover the main retail functions: from logistics to omni-channel and buying to store design. This has provided an invaluable understanding of how the entire retail jigsaw fits together - and how cross functional working beats unrealistic departmental boundaries every time.
I am now building on my career successes to help retail brands adapt and thrive. These successes include:
- Turning around the retail division of a high-profile (3rd sector) charity, delivering sales growth in excess of 100% within 2 years and returning it to profit by: transforming a single-channel business into a unique, multi-channel proposition; opening 9 standalone stores in top tier shopping centres and 7 concessions within Debenhams stores; developing a product proposition to appeal to the charity’s broad supporter base; implementing marketing strategies including social media and direct marketing; implementing infrastructure changes to support the new business model including outsourcing the warehouse to a 3rd party, implementing retail and warehouse management systems and restructuring the team to put in place the right levels of expertise; developing and implementing a supply chain strategy to improve efficiencies and margin, and to create a focus on ethical trading
- Driving the showroom expansion strategy of The Cotswold Company (a UK based upper-mid furniture & homeware brand) by identifying, negotiating, designing, opening & trading a flagship showroom and subsequent locations, implementing systems, processes and ways of working to optimise all KPIs
