Publications, history, archives, research
As an experienced historian, I can offer a range of bespoke publications, from family histories to detailed examinations of animal breeding controversies; 70,000 word monographs to 700 word press releases; commemorative pamphlets to data-driven reports. I can support research output and aid in the production of university corporate communications.
I am a skilled copy-editor, having worked for academic journals and in-house publications such as the Exmoor Studies series produced by the Exmoor Society. I aim to help authors produce the best work they are capable of rather than impose my ideas of what they ought to be writing. I am a member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders.
I can offer an end-to-end publication service from the conception of the idea, through research, writing, editing, proofreading, image selection and design. My academic training was in history of science and medicine and I am adept at explaining STEM for popular audiences. I have also published on the popularity of Lorna Doone, woodland policy, cycle safety, the development of toll roads and land utilisation surveys.
When I'm not working, I'm usually horse-riding, cycling or folk singing.
Work Terms
I work full-time, Monday to Saturday and generally check emails 7am to 6pm UK time. I prefer to communicate by email. I charge 30 USD per hour.
