Virtual Assistant, Bookkeeper, Writer/Editer……….providing superb service in accounts payable and receivable, appointment setting, phone/email handling, data entry, doc conversion, and more!
In May 2006, I received my Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in banking and finance from The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss).
In May 2018, I earned my Masters of Business Administration degree from Louisiana State University. Wanting a very well-rounded perspective, I focused on 3 specializations during my MBA program: Family Business & Entrepreneurship, Contemporary Issues in Finance & Accounting, and HR Management.
I began freelancing in January 2015, and over the past 3.5 years have had the unique opportunity of working with so many wonderful companies and individuals on numerous projects, both short and long-term. I'm the owner/operator of SPVA, providing help in virtual assistance, bookkeeping, data entry, article writing, file conversions, typing, editing, scheduling, calendar/email maintenance, personal bill paying, compliance calling.
Prior to 2015, I worked in the finance industry, mainly working in accounts payable for 8 yrs. Responsibilities included processing and paying invoices for 11 companies/locations, balancing GL accounts, overseeing employee requisitions and reimbursements, managing fixed assets and depreciation accounts, and scanning all documents into the database, paying use sales tax with the state, invoicing, and reconciling accounts.
.
I am also a certified high school English teacher in MS. I've taught 9th-11th graders. I incorporated various technologies in the classroom with ‘real world’ applications and involved my students (approximately 150 students/year) in hands-on projects such as ‘Hometown Heroes: a Service Learning Project offered via the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (http://www.vvmf.org/ccmd-education). I also provided after-school tutoring in various subjects and test-taking strategies. I was also the assistant softball coach.
I help at a local animal rescue group and foster pets. I also like to visit friends/family, sing, travel, go to estate sales, and try projects off Pinterest!
Work Terms
Hours vary and are negotiable, as are some rates, dependent on the task/job. Preferred communication via email or text messaging. Phone calls are fine, but due to the scam calls lately, please leave a voicemail with a detailed message and I will be glad to call back in a timely manner.
Payment is typically due every Friday, unless other arrangements are made. I also work on monthly retainer fees if interested. I have my own contracts in place, as well.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to speaking with you soon!
