I aim to produce eye-catching, contemporary copy on a range of subjects that gives a real sense of the writer - and therefore the reader - being at the heart of the story or the feature
A lifetime career in news and current affairs broadcasting gave me experience of producing and editing major network news and current affairs shows, commissioning programmes for a network and, as managing director, running three different television enterprises in studio production, programme making and broadcasting. Outside of television I've maintained a close connection with the arts and especially with music and the theatre. I have worked with six theatres and theatre companies and am currently on the boards of two of the UK's biggest national companies and chair the board of one of our biggest regional producing theatres. After university I trained in newspapers where I developed a passion for writing and quickly became adept at identifying good stories and developed the ability to turn around copy quickly and accurately. My interests are wide and I can apply my skills to a range of subjects and can adjust style to suit the outlet and the demands.
Work Terms
I am completely flexible and, having accepted a commission, will work to the deadline across all days of the week. Initial preferred contact by email and after that either by mail or mobile. Having agreed a fee for the job I would expect to be paid promptly on delivery with the client covering any reasonable expenses incurred (travel and so on).
