French - English translator and English proofreader/editor

I graduated from Politehnica university in Romania, with a First Class Honours degree in English. I worked as an English Language Assistant in Romania for 9 months, during which time I helped students prepare for their English exams, planned lessons both for myself and for other teachers, and often helped teachers to edit and improve resources and documents they had created and translate source material for use in courses. I have over seven years of experience as a freelance translator, translating official documents and correspondence from Romanian/French to English. I have also produced more creative, literary translations from both French to English and English to French. I am familiar with translation theory, having studied this at university as part of a project I chose to undertake in my final year, and am comfortable with writing, translating and checking translations across various registers, whether technical, academic or more informal. I pride myself on the accuracy and idiomatic nature of my translations, whilst never failing to keep the client’s requirements at the forefront of my attention. I also work as an editor, proofreader and copywriter and show exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. I am meticulous in every aspect of translation and editing and guarantee that any tasks will be carried out in a professional, punctual and thorough manner.
