I have been in the corporate world and have also owned my own company. . My experience covers - very broadly - marketing research, sales and management, project management, advertising, client liaison, lecturing Market Research Module to 3rd Year Students studying IMM, conducting research projects from initiation to completion (strategy) - and as anyone in the research world knows this can cover many different types of projects. Needed skills are attention to detail, excellent communication skills, good verbal and writing skills, customer relationships, understanding of statistics, good presentation skills. Being the owner of a company (now I assist research companies when their time and resources are low) one how to know how to motivate staff, grow their careers, keep their jobs interesting. Instilling company pride into individuals. Have also been involved with various creative projects. Have also ghost written for universities. Have helped individual receive their doctorates by conducting Lit Reviews and doing Primary Research. An all rounder. Have organised weddings for clients (yes!), to marketing their services, to handling extremely personal issues for some other clients. My clients say you start of as a Gill and then you are a Jack of all Trades, Master of all. Work Terms
I prefer on-going positions, such as in marketing, helping a small company to grow, assisting high-flyers with tasks that do not fall within the scope of Exec level (although I do that too). Everything is open and legitimate. With research and marketing - I can come in at any level and assist. From initiation, to interpreting, to research methodology to delivering the project. Secondary Research/Desk Research has become a specialty.
