Professional Presentation, Intelligent Design
My name is James, or Jimmy, Haithcoat. I recently graduated from the University of Missouri with a BFA in Graphic Design. I have worked for the past 4 years studying corporate branding and identity, print design, packaging design, photography, and web and multimedia design. I have also been training in traditional art forms such as drawing, painting, serigraphy, ceramics, fibers, and sculpting.
I believe that design is an integral part of our world. Everything you see has been designed by someone. Design can reach every person on the planet and influence their emotions. Humans respond to what they see. We can’t help it. Different arrangements of colors, shapes, images, and lines can give birth to a thousand different cognitive associations. This puts the designers in the unique position to influence the culture around them. Good or bad design can dictate what we buy when. It can have an impact on where we choose to spend our time. It can define a company or corporation. Essentially, in the hands of a good designer, graphic design can be used to achieve whatever purpose the artist desires. This is why I love graphic design
I like to consider myself a somewhat adventurous person. I enjoy rock-climbing, hiking, camping, fishing, and really anything else outdoors. I am also a fitness enthusiast and my day is not complete until I have spent an hour or two in the gym (call me crazy). Also, just to warn you, if you start a conversation with me about cars it may never end. I love cars. I love them...anyways... I grew up out in the "sticks" and come from an enormous family. I have 5 sisters, 2 brothers, and a lot of patience (so if you are a potential employer, check the box by "works well with others"). If you are still reading at this point congratulations, you know more about me than you care to. I just wanted to look more interesting so I put a lot of type on this page.
