We chose to do a rather small competitive research project with Jan just to see if it was the right fit for deeper research on the same project. What really worked about this engagement was that Jan spent the right amount of time in the beginning aligning the expectations we had for this project with what she had expected to deliver. In the end, I was comfortable with what she was going to deliver...and by when. In the short number of hours that we dedicated to this phase of our research, it was clear that she really put her whole self into the project, understanding as much as she could about the 10 companies we were asking her to look into--almost as if she was doing it for herself and not a client. In the end we got exactly what we expected and Jan even did a few things that exceeded our expectations. Mostly, it was the energy that she brought to the project that made this engagement really work. We would definitely hire Jan again for competitive research.
