ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER, BUILDER, ARTIST & CRAFTSMAN
I have been passionately involved in construction and design since 2002 where I began in the construction trades as a residential carpenter in Kalamazoo, MI. Continued opportunities then led to work in the commercial building industry in the major cities of Atlanta and Philadelphia. In 2005 I relocated back to Michigan to receive a license in residential construction, and by 2006, at age 23, I was acting general contractor on three new residential projects.
The housing crisis of 2008 provided an opportunity for pursuing a new and much-desired path. I entered the Architecture program at Andrews University to study the traditional discipline of architecture and urban planning. The introduction to world travel and ancient architecture would also grow into a major personal interest. Upon graduation in 2013, I moved to Amman, Jordan to join the American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) as the Assistant Architect and Documentation Coordinator at the Temple of the Winged Lions (TWLCRM) in the ancient city of Petra. While in Jordan I also assisted with design, planning, and site management at the ancient site of Tall Hisban.
Following the work in the Middle East, I continued training as an architectural designer in Chicago and SW Michigan with firms concentrating on various projects including residential, multi-family, mixed-use, commercial, adaptive-reuse, and planning.
I currently work out of my home-office in the Arts District of Benton Harbor, MI where I actively continue the study and practice of design and construction.
