Making Java Look Good

I'm transitioning to contract work after 10 years of developing a suite of 3 desktop applications for an educational software company. As one of 2 or 3 developers: we regularly alternated between roles (including architect, developer and tech support). In my most recent performance review my manager observed that I was the most proficient developer at identifying and resolving bugs he'd ever come across -- but that might also be largely attributed to being intimately familiar with over half the codebase.
