Among funding agencies and foundations that Jerry has written and presented successful proposals for funding are the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Commonwealth Foundation and Johnson and Johnson.
Having worked in Africa with particular focus in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Somalia and South Sudan gives him an edge in application of the principle of the power of social-economic context of the varied audiences. All communication projects he has executed and managed have ensured end-user and stakeholders active involvement form conceptualization, delivery and evaluation. Constantly emphasizing on the simplification of content for low-literacy groups such as youth and populace in informal settlements and rural locations has made him effective in improving outcomes in health and financial status. He for example oversaw the SASA communication strategy for migrant sex workers that saw more than a thirty point increase in household incomes across Kenya. In Tanzania and South Sudan he worked with the governments to set-up national health communication and education standards.
Work Terms
While remaining open to mid to long term in-country contracts anywhere in the world, my current working environment is home office with periodic library and field research periods. I can respond to prompts and instructions for assignments on-line or via email. Where applicable, telephone and chat room opportunities maybe explored to assure customer satisfaction and job review.
As a highly skilled facilitator and trainer, workshops can be in-built in assignments for effective brainstorming, planning and review for attainment of the best levels of quality and client participation and feedback. On basis I can conduct interviews, devise and administer questionnaires, moderate focused group discussions and carryout immersed observation methodology for data gathering before analysis report writing and dissemination.
My commitment to the environment and inherent individuals’ ability to self-ability to improve their own well-being ensures client-centered approaches in my work.
