While motivation and inspiration can make leaders strong people managers, it’s the action that ultimately drives the respect and trust needed to be effective.
I graduated Multimedia Arts from a school that is not part of the “top-tier” so to speak. If you’ve already browsed through my resume, you’re also probably wondering how I’ve built my career in a variety of roles and industries. I’m not only used to wearing many hats, I sincerely enjoy it; I thrive in an environment where no two workdays are exactly the same. This is how I eventually found my passion for Learning and Talent Development.
I was told that I had a great eye for detail and my first real job was to project manage an entire concept store from ground up. I was given the chance to help design and operate a first of its kind retail store in the heart of Bonifacio Global City. From there, I was hired by a multinational company to design and facilitate their training materials as a Management Trainee. After a year I was promoted as Operations Manager handling 8 branches managing over 100 employees. Leveraging on my people skills and training expertise, my area was awarded best for the year and I was part of the Circle of Excellence – the certificate was cool but the Greek island cruise was epic! I decided to take a breather from the corporate world to pursue a dream. I had the opportunity to start a humble bed & breakfast in one of the country’s top surfing destinations. After a little over a year, we were expanding and doubling the number of our guest rooms. Most recently, I accepted a job at Southeast Asia’s number 1 online shopping site to head Learning & Talent Development. Working in such a fast paced environment teaches you time management, adaptability and grit. Did I also mention that I won best in costume during our yearend event two years in a row? If that’s not going the extra mile, then I don’t know what is.
In everything that I do, I’ve always taken the minimalist approach, which I’ve honed since college. You can see this in my designs as well as the manner of how I conduct business: simple, effective, and efficient while making an impact.
