Vivid, memorable, emotionally-alive writing. That's what I do.
Work Terms
Negotiable, especially if the project has legs. I like retainers and sustained projects that promise some modicum of stability, reducing the hours I need to spend hunting down the next job. The more undefined the project, the less likely I am to charge a flat fee and insist on an hourly rate. When I first came to Guru, I asked $85/hr, which is what I get from ad agencies in Kansas City. Few were willing to pay my rate, so I dropped it to $75 for everything but web content, which I do for $65, simply because there are so many people willing to do it for even less. My experience is worth more than theirs, in most cases. If you want professionalism, deadlines met, clean copy, clarity, and a willingness to revise and collaborate, that's what I offer.
