I am a freelance illustrator specialized in vector & watercolor illustration
Experienced traveler since his teen ages, Joaquin combines in his illustrated Travel Journals his passion for travel and his skills as watercolour artist. He changed his camera for a blank notebook and a travel box of watercolours and reflects in its pages the landscapes, peoples, buildings and details of the 5 continents that he has already visited. Probably the toughest handicap in his task is capturing the essence of the countries he visits in a 2D media, where he mixes drawings, wrtings, sticked material, leaf, sand… whatever helps the reader to make a virtual trip through his pages.
He likes to travel as light as possible, in a very tight budget, trying to get as close as possible to the ground and the everyday life of his destinations, and enjoying every minute of his relatively short travels, no more than 30 days each.
Joaquin has exhibited his work in many exhibitions in the Spanish gallery Supermercart (2005 and 2006), Jean Richepin Centre Clermont -Ferrand ( "Watercolors of the World, 2011"), Altaïr Bookstore (Ethiopia in watercolors, 2008) and in SDI exhibition centre (Watercolors of the World, 2016). In 2002 and 2004 he won the 1st prize at the Annual contest Diaries organized by Ambar Travel Agency (Madrid) and his work appeared in an article about travel diaries in the Sunday edition of El País Semanal of August 4th, 2002 . in November 2005, he was invited for the first time to the 6th Biennal International of Travel Diaries of Clermont-Ferrand (France), international fair that he has attended in 8 occasions so far.
