Food & Travel Writing, Web Design, Social Media and Mutlimedia
Over 20 years experience in writing and design in corporate environments and as a freelancer. I specialize in food and travel, based in South Korea. I have written, designed, or consulted for The Wall Street Journal, Roads & Kingdoms, CNN (Anthony Bourdain), The Travel Channel, Conde Nast Traveler, and The New York Times.
I moved to Korea because of an accidental love of Korean history. I created Korea's first ever food blog in 2004. This has created opportunities to meet my heroes and to work with and learn from top level media production operations.
I have run a growing tour company that has competed directly with the big players in the industry for SEO space. Because COVID-19 has killed the tourism industry for this year, I'm refocusing my skills to do for you what I had done for my company.
I have run social media campaigns for multinational food corporations. For these projects, I create monthly strategies and use images and video to increase engagement. For one project, we even made fast-paced BuzzFeed style cooking videos that proved popular.
As for multimedia, I also have a background in television and radio, which include video and audio production. I run a microstudio from my home, where I do voice work, video projects, and I've even repaired broken audio recordings for a major radio network.
Another fun project included in these projects is Chatbot programming using Natural Language Processing (NLP). I create automated Facebook Chatbots that learn and respond in such realistic ways that some users have befriended them.
Work Terms
I am in my office 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Korea Time. My clients and I usually agree to 60% upfront and 40% on completion for individual projects. I haven also worked on monthly retainers. I'm quite flexible. I just like to create amazing work.
