Startup Leader, CEO, Marketing, Biz Dev, Sales, Seed Fundraising
Serial entrepreneur with 20 years of experience. Three acquisitions, including as CEO. Specialize in marketing, partnership strategies and product, but having also led sales, customer success and fundraising, I know growth is not just about where you advertise. I think about growth strategies from a founder's 360 degree perspective.
Growth | Marketing | Partnerships
In addition to strategizing SEM, SEO, social media and content marketing, I help companies think about strategic marketing partnerships. My strategies at Earbits included no-cost partnerships with Facebook, Google, Roku, Hearst Corporation and others, that resulted in the acquisition of 15,000 bands and 600 record labels, plus 300k registered users. Prior to Earbits, I drove all company revenue for Affiliate Fuel.
Product
As CEO of Earbits, acq. in 2015, I led development of web, Android and iPhone apps with 4-star ratings and 500,000 downloads. I help companies use customer interviews to develop products users will love. I help clearly define engagement or conversion metrics, set up useful dashboards, and create test plans for rapid iteration and growth.
Fundraising and Pitch Decks
I create compelling presentations for sales, partnerships and fundraising. I have secured agreements with Hearst, Google, Roku and others. I've raised $1.7M in angel capital from Y Combinator, Charles River Ventures, and Wordpress founder Matt Mullenweg. I also secured the Earbits acquisition by You42. I've won a number of startup pitch competitions and pitched at Y Combinator's winter 2011 Demo Day.
Acquisitions
I've been part of three acquisitions. I was the 2nd employee of Affiliate Fuel and led all revenue generation until its $15M acquisition in 2004. I took over post-acquisition and grew the company from $18M-$48M in two years. In 2009, I co-founded SportsCampConnection, acquired in 2016. In 2010, I co-founded Earbits and, as CEO, led the company to a $8M acquisition in 2016.
Work Terms
I am looking for part time remote work. I don't mind accommodating the schedule of my clients. I prefer hourly billing but can also work on a project basis.
